Baseball Recap: Havana Takes a Loss

If Havana was feeling good fresh off their 17-11 takedown of Canton on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ducks fell just short of the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays by a score of 7-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Ducks have suffered since April 15th.

Bradyn Willing put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaden Olson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Havana is 2-1 when Olson posts three or more hits, but 9-16 otherwise.

With the defeat, Havana broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-17. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9-2 record this season.
