Baseball Preview: Carrboro Jaguars vs. Williams Bulldogs
The Carrboro Jaguars will head out to take on the Williams Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Carrboro has three straight wins, Williams has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Carrboro took on East Chapel Hill on Wednesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Joe Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Evan Stowe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Carrboro is undefeated when Stowe posts three or more hits, but 2-6 otherwise. Levi Bienstock also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Williams didn't have quite enough to beat Seaforth on Wednesday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.
Carrboro's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Williams, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
