Baseball Recap: Collin Herrell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Real Life Christian Academy

First Academy won the last time they faced Real Life Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The First Academy Eagles beat the Real Life Christian Academy Raptors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-5. Considering the Eagles have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Caiden Wilcox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, First Academy got a massive performance out of Collin Herrell, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Cody Rojas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

First Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

First Academy's record is now 5-0. As for Real Life Christian Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Academy will venture away from home to challenge Geneva at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Geneva: 3, First Academy: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Real Life Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hernando Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Real Life Christian Academy has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
