The Harbor Teacher Monarchs will take on the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Harbor Teacher will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Thursday, then bounced right back against Fremont on Friday. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Pathfinders.
Harbor Teacher got a massive performance out of Lexi Cetina, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Cetina has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Alagba, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harbor Teacher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Port of Los Angeles came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Golden Eagles as they made off with a 16-2 victory.
Rochelle Watkins was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Nevaeh Randall was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Harbor Teacher has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Port of Los Angeles, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Harbor Teacher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Port of Los Angeles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Harbor Teacher might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Port of Los Angeles when the teams last played back in April. Will the Monarchs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
