Recap: Cocoa Tigers vs. Edgewood Red Wolves
The Cocoa Tigers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Edgewood 59-32 at home. Cocoa has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season.
Cocoa found their leader in underclassman Gianna Conklin-Jones, who scored 24 points along with five steals. Conklin-Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Khamoni Agee, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Edgewood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aubrey Germain, who scored four points along with two steals. Germain has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Cocoa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Edgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Cocoa will head out on the road to face off against Palm Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Palm Bay is on a four-game streak of home wins, Cocoa a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Edgewood will take on Satellite at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
