Baseball Recap: Wayne County War Eagles vs. Stone Tomcats

Wayne County extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-18. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stone Tomcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tomcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-8 on Tuesday.

Brady Ainsworth spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Wayne County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kryon Gray, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Ayden Obenhaus came in to relieve Burge and was airtight, giving up no runs, hits or walks in his an inning pitched.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Stone beat Wayne County by a score of 9-4 on Friday.
