Softball Recap: Mount Union Has No Trouble Against Mcconnellsburg

While Mount Union put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for McConnellsburg. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Spartans. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Payton Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

In other batting news, Kaylynn Wharton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Callie Trego was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Mount Union back to even at 2-2. As for McConnellsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Mount Union will take on Tussey Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for McConnellsburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Forbes Road at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
