Recap: Weld Central Rebels vs. Eaton Reds
The Weld Central Rebels suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 73-24 loss at the hands of Eaton. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Weld Central in their matchups with Eaton: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Weld Central had strong showings from Auburn Thoene, who scored eight points, and Isabel Weisenborn, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals. Weisenborn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eaton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayla Wiedeman, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Wiedeman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Delaney Reuter was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Weld Central's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Eaton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Coincidentally, Weld Central and Eaton will both be playing University the next time they take the court. Eaton will head out to face University at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Weld Central will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
