Softball Recap: Castaic Comes Up Short

Castaic fell victim to Canyon and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 1-0. The Coyotes have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Kate Eppenbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tatum McAfee was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one triple. Samantha Farell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

Castaic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Canyon, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Castaic will host Bishop Diego at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Coyotes are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Canyon, they will be playing at home against Hart at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
