Basketball Recap: Harding Academy Skates Past St. George's with Ease

Harding Academy entered their tilt with St. George on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the St. George's Gryphons to the tune of 57-28. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Gryphons are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Harding Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erica McGary led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. McGary is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynne Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Harding Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Harding Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for St. George's, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.

Harding Academy will square off against Evangelical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
