Basketball Recap: Waterford-Halfmoon Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Waterford-Halfmoon had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Hudson Ridge Thunder Chicken by a score of 63-54 on Monday. Considering the Fordians' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

When it comes to explaining why Hudson Ridge lost, don't look at Julius Brown. Despite the final result, he posted 37 points. Brown's evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was James Calcagno, who had seven points.

Waterford-Halfmoon's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hudson Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterford-Halfmoon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mechanicville at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
