Basketball Recap: Bonanza Takes a Loss

Bonanza lost against Somerset Academy Losee back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bonanza Bengals took a blow against the Somerset Academy Losee Lions, falling 82-8. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Lions are ranked 20th).

Jayla Lewis was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 steals for Somerset Academy Losee. With that strong performance, Lewis is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Cleveland, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds.

Bonanza's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Somerset Academy Losee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Bonanza didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 34-30 defeat against Amplus Academy on the 17th. Somerset Academy Losee has also already played their next contest, a 69-13 win against Southeast Career Tech on the 17th.
