It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Germantown Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Conwell-Egan Catholic Eagles 2-1. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 5-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sean McGettigan led a balanced Patriots bullpen and struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Albert, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Bulicki, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Germantown Academy and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Conwell-Egan Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Germantown Academy will challenge St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 9:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Conwell-Egan Catholic, they will host Lansdale Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
