Putnam is 0-10 against Wheeler since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Clippers will host the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Putnam is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Putnam barely beat Parish Hill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Clippers blew past the Pirates 21-6 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Clippers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Aubrey Paquette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Avery Meyette was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Summers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wheeler has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.4 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Bacon Academy, falling 10-1. The Lions were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Bobcats' pitcher proved too tough.

Wheeler saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shay Deary, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wheeler fell to 4-1. As for Putnam, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Putnam has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wheeler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Putnam might still be hurting after the 13-6 loss they got from Wheeler in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Clippers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
