It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Raton had no problem doing just that on Monday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-12 victory over the Jal Panthers. 41 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

It was another big night for Cannon Walton, who rushed for 224 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 168 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes. His longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Wyatt Berry was Walton's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Raton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Despite the defeat, Jal had strong showings from Daniel Ornelas, who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and Andre Rodriguez, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ornelas also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.

The victory made it two in a row for Raton and bumps their season record up to 6-5. As for Jal, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Raton will venture away from home to take on Santa Rosa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Rosa will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Raton surely won't give up without a fight. Jal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
