Recap: Laughlin Cougars vs. Lincoln County Lynx
After flying high against the Founders Classical Academy Centurions on Thursday, the Laughlin Cougars came back down to earth. Laughlin was beaten by Lincoln County 54-27 on Saturday. Laughlin lost against Lincoln County in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-12 score last time.
Despite the loss, Laughlin saw an underclassman step up: Valeria Qunitero scored 13 points along with seven steals. Qunitero continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amora Thomas, who scored three points along with seven steals.
Laughlin's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Lincoln County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laughlin will square off against Lake Mead Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln County, they will head out on the road to face off against Pahranagat Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pahranagat Valley's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Lincoln County's offense will have their work cut out for Lincoln County.
