Baseball Recap: Union City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Anderson Prep Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union City). They blew past the Anderson Prep Academy Jets 21-2 on Wednesday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Caleb Lutz and Logan Besser made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lutz struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Besser tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Lutz went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Besser went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Lutz has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Trendon Spence was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Union City is undefeated when Spence posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. Brayden Huggins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Union City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Union City's record is now 5-6. As for Anderson Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Union City will venture away from home to challenge Randolph Southern at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Anderson Prep Academy, they will welcome Tri at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Jets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
