Baseball Recap: Cactus Has No Trouble Against Cortez

Cactus's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cortez Colts. The matchup marked the Cobras' most dominant win of the season.

Phoenix Huisinga was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Cactus: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Torres, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

With the victory, Cactus broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-13. As for Cortez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cactus will welcome Deer Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Cobras surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cortez, they will host Desert Sunrise at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Hawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
