Basketball Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss

Lafayette managed to slip by Branford the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hornets were beaten by the Buccaneers 64-26 on Friday. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-13.

Lafayette lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was James Turner, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 10 points. He has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 56% every time he's hit the court this season.

Branford was led to victory by Anthony Washington and Anthony Bailey. Washington shot 50% from the field en route to 21 points and eight steals, while Bailey went 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points and five steals. What's more, Bailey also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trent Land, who posted eight points.

Lafayette now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Branford, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Lafayette didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-39 win against Bell on the 8th. As for Branford, they have also already played their next contest, a 76-73 defeat against Westside on the 12th.
