Softball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

Maryvale had taken Camelback down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Spartans, falling 32-17. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered against the Spartans since March 22, 2018.

Valerie Campos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with 11 stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaline Ortega, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Maryvale dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Camelback, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Maryvale will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tempe at 3:45 p.m. As for Camelback, they will square off against Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
