Basketball Game Preview: Tidehaven Tigers vs. Yoakum Bulldogs

The Tidehaven Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Yoakum Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tidehaven has eight straight victories, Yoakum has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Tidehaven took their contest with ease, bagging a 47-3 win over Rice Consolidated. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 29 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Yoakum came up short against Columbus on Friday, falling 61-39. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1040th, while the Cardinals are ranked 437th).

Tidehaven pushed their record up to 26-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Yoakum, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Everything came up roses for Tidehaven against Yoakum when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tidehaven since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
