Basketball Recap: Choctaw County Takes a Loss

Choctaw County lost against Shields last Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Choctaw County Tigers fell 53-40 to the Shields Panthers. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Choctaw County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaydon Thomas went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Blakley, who posted eight points and six boards.

Choctaw County's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Shields, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Choctaw County will venture away from home to face off against Sweet Water at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shields, they will face off against Marengo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
