Football Game Preview: Southwest Valley vs. Mount Ayr Raiders

Southwest Valley are taking a road trip to take on the Mount Ayr Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Valley has given up an average of 28.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southwest Valley's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against West Monona on Friday. They were beaten by the Spartans 40-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which Southwest Valley was not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Mount Ayr waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Wolverines 47-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Raiders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Wolverines are ranked 253rd).

Mount Ayr now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southwest Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Southwest Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-14 loss to Mount Ayr in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Southwest Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
