Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Edwin O. Smith

Edwin O. Smith won the last time they faced Conard and things went their way on Friday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Red Wolves with a sharp 8-1 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by seven runs or more this season.

Olivia Lipps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rachael Morales was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Cartier, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Edwin O. Smith's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Conard, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edwin O. Smith will face off against Bristol Central at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Conard, they will take on Middletown at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
