Recap: Avon Panthers vs. Atlantis
The Avon Panthers came into Tuesday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They breezed by Atlantis on the road to the tune of 55-9 on Tuesday. That looming 55-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Avon yet this season.
Uwa Idada had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hanelie Cadet, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Avon's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Atlantis, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will face off against the Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bristol County Agricultural's defense has only allowed 26.2 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Atlantis, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the at 3:30 p.m. on January 31st.
