Baseball Recap: Holy Name Gets the Win

Holy Name hadn't done well against Elyria Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Green Wave walked away with a 7-4 win over the Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Green Wave: when they faced off against the Panthers last Wednesday, they had to take a 5-2 loss.

Dom Marchetta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniel Stibley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Holy Name's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Elyria Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Name will take on Shaker Heights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Elyria Catholic, they will square off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
