Softball Recap: Idalou Comes Up Short

Idalou extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-7. They came up short against the Sundown Roughnecks, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 19-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.

As for Sundown, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Sundown's part, Breigh Gregory made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gregory has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynly Gregory, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Nayleen Morin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Idalou will be taking part in a tournament against Seminole at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season. As for Sundown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pecos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
