Baseball Recap: Laguna Hills Takes a Loss

Laguna Hills extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 13-11 in the process. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fullerton Indians. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Hawks were not able to get on the board.

Christian Sigaty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

As for Fullerton, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Fullerton's side, the result came thanks to Garrett Wightman's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. Wightman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Miguel Velasquez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Sammy Chacon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

While Laguna Hills had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
