Basketball Recap: Virgin Valley snaps five-game streak of wins on the road

Basketball Recap: Virgin Valley Bulldogs vs. Moapa Valley Pirates

It was a good run, but the Virgin Valley Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 49-29 defeat to Moapa Valley might stick with them for a while. Virgin Valley found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 7 on offense.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natali Isidro, who scored five points along with three steals. Isidro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played. Mady Wright was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.

It was another big night for Haylie Western, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds for Moapa Valley. Another player making a difference was Claire Cox, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Virgin Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-11. As for Moapa Valley, they pushed their record up to 23-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Virgin Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Moapa Valley will play host again and welcome the Knights, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Pirates are ranked 13th).
