Baseball Recap: Putnam Find Success

While Putnam's victory against McDaniel wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Putnam skirted past McDaniel 7-6. The Kingsmen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mountain Lions on Thursday, too.

Nolan Edwards and Ian Pollard made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Edwards tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Pollard pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Edwards scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Pollard got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Salvione, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jace Johnson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Putnam has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs this season. As for McDaniel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Putnam will take on Cleveland at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McDaniel, they will square off against Canby at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
