Basketball Recap: Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Falls Despite Big Games from Lexie Johnson and Campbell Bohling

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley lost against Meridian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles lost to the Meridian Mustangs on the road by a 48-29 margin. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Campbell Bohling and Lexie Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Bohling posted eight points and ten boards, while Johnson had six points. Bohling is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexis Hergott, who earned five points.

Meridian had a senior duo take command as Jaylee Sobotka went 7 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and six steals and Taelyn Filipi put up 17 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sobotka has scored at least a third of Meridian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Filipi, who scored five points.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will challenge McCool Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McCool Junction will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Bruning-Davenport/Shickley surely won't give up without a fight. Meridian has already played their next game (against Twin River), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
