After losing to Lafayette the last time they met, Lexington Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Generals 2-1 on Monday. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Abby Hammond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lauren Kelley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Lexington Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lexington Catholic will head out to face off against Paul Laurence Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lafayette, they will venture away from home to challenge Tates Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commodores have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
