Baseball Game Preview: Service Cougars vs. West Anchorage Eagles

Service is 9-1 against West Anchorage since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Service will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Service is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked 17th at the time (Service was ranked second). The Cougars blew past the Golden Bears 20-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Palmer Dalton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Service always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted an OBP of .458.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage fell victim to Chugiak and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 28, 2025.

Service's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for West Anchorage, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
