Softball Recap: Ocean View Christian Comes Up Short

Ocean View Christian extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-4 in the process. They lost 14-2 to the Bayfront Charter Sharks. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Ocean View Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Della Sandoval, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Bayfront Charter's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Bayfront Charter's side, Ariana Carbajal spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. Carbajal has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bayfront Charter let Ahloni Garcia and Carolina Vidrio run wild. Garcia went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Vidrio went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Vidrio has hit this season. Anahi Del Rosario was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Ocean View Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-9 victory against San Diego Academy on the 22nd. As for Bayfront Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-0 loss against Mar Vista on the 21st.
