Basketball Game Preview: Western Wildcats vs. Everglades Gators

The Western Wildcats and the Everglades Gators will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Western and nine for Everglades dating back to last season.

Western saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 82-60 to Mater Lakes Academy. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Bears are ranked 69th).

Meanwhile, Everglades came up short against Coral Glades on Monday, falling 46-24.

Everglades' defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Western, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Western against Everglades in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, as the team secured a 66-33 victory. In that contest, Western amassed a halftime lead of 38-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
