Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Benzie Central's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Benzie Central got themselves on the board against Suttons Bay on Tuesday, but Suttons Bay never followed suit. They blew past the Norsemen 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Lane Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Benzie Central is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5-1 otherwise. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Tyler Brooks and Jayden Ewing did most of the damage at the plate: Brooks went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Ewing went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Benzie Central is undefeated when Ewing posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5-1 otherwise. Grayson Converse was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Benzie Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Suttons Bay only managed two hits.

Benzie Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Suttons Bay, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Benzie Central will take on Mesick at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Suttons Bay, they will head out to take on Mason County Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
