Basketball Recap: Grace Gallagher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hunter over Taylorsville

Hunter was the 49-32 winner over Taylorsville when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Hunter Wolverines fell 60-49 to the Taylorsville Warriors on Friday.

Hunter's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Gallagher, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points along with six boards and four steals. Gallagher has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 32 times she's played. Skye Davidson was another key player, going 7 for 14 en route to 14 points.

Taylorsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karen Jones, who posted 28 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Sterzer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Hunter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Taylorsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season.

Hunter has already played their next contest, a 49-41 victory against Cyprus on the 4th. As for Taylorsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-60 win against Kearns on the 4th.
