Baseball Recap: Biggersville Takes Down Vardaman in a Playoff Battle

Biggersville extended their postseason success on Saturday against Vardaman. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 14-9. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Rams on Friday, they had to take a 13-3 loss.

Biggersville got a massive performance out of Jaden Clifton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The Lions are undefeated when Clifton posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Xae Mayes, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.

Biggersville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Vardaman, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Biggersville beat the Rams by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday.
