Basketball Recap: Maquoketa Valley's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Maquoketa Valley entered their match against Alburnett on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Maquoketa Valley Wildcats took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alburnett Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-31 back in December of 2024.

Maquoketa Valley's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5. As for Alburnett, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Maquoketa Valley will take on Starmont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maquoketa Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Starmont likes a good challenge. As for Alburnett, they will be playing at home against North Linn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Linn will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Alburnett surely won't give up without a fight.
