Basketball Game Preview: Clover Garden School Grizzlies vs. Bethany Community Wolves

The Clover Garden School Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Bethany Community Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Back in December of 2024, Clover Garden School was beaten by Southern Wake Academy 82-44. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Clover Garden School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charlie Castaneda went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Whitt, who posted seven points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Clover Garden School was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bethany Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 59-21 loss at the hands of Bishop McGuinness. The game marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Bethany Community's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Clover Garden School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Clover Garden School was able to grind out a solid win over Bethany Community in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 43-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clover Garden School since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
