Basketball Recap: Abi Howington and Kya Davis Secure Win for Borah

Borah won the last time they faced Mountain View and things went their way on Thursday too. The Borah Lions came out on top against the Mountain View Mavericks by a score of 42-32. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Mavericks are ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Borah to victory were Kya Davis and Abi Howington. Davis posted 14 points and eight rebounds, while Howington had eight points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Howington a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Amayah Defares, who earned six points.

Borah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Kendrie Judd and Kaylee Steinwand certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Judd put up ten points and six rebounds, while Steinwand scored six points. Dyllan Linville was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Borah's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Capital the next time they take the court. Borah will head out to face Capital at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mountain View will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
