Baseball Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. LaVille Lancers

Fairfield is 3-0 against LaVille since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fairfield Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the LaVille Lancers at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, it was close, but Fairfield sidestepped Fremont for a 6-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fairfield.

Keegan Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Slabaugh, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for LaVille, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against North Judson-San Pierre by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday.

Brayden Schwitz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schwitz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. Schwitz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other pitching news, Karson Quinn looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Back at the plate, LaVille let Lucas Plummer and Collin Czarnecki loose on the outfield. Plummer scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Czarnecki went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for LaVille, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Both the pair just can't seem to miss. Fairfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game.
