Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland Wins Going Away Against Miller

Gregory-Portland won the last time they faced Miller and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wildcats blew past the Buccaneers 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Madison Mauricio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elizabeth Keith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalysa Alvarado, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Gregory-Portland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miller only posted an OBP of .296.

Gregory-Portland's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Miller, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Gregory-Portland will be playing at home against Ray at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Texans at the right time seeing as the Texans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Miller, they will venture away from home to take on King at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.79 runs per game on average), something the Buccaneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
