Soccer Game Preview: Poudre vs. Denver East

The Poudre Impalas will head out on the road to square off against the Denver East Angels at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Poudre and Loveland, and Poudre kept the tradition alive. The Impalas walked away with a 3-1 win over the Red Wolves on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Poudre's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Loveland are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Denver East made sure to put some goals up on the board against Montbello on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Warriors. Considering Denver East have won five contests by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Denver East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 6-1-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those five games. As for Poudre, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-1.
