Soccer Game Preview: Berry vs. Myers Park

Berry hasn't had much luck against Myers Park recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Berry has given up an average of 5.3 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Berry is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against South Mecklenburg, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Berry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while South Mecklenburg are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Myers Park kept a clean sheet against Olympic on Tuesday. They blew past the Trojans 10-0. Myers Park might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by four goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Olympic from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Elizabeth Dillard led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Myers Park has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 58 goals over those nine games. As for Berry, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
