Baseball Recap: El Diamante Takes a Loss

El Diamante fell victim to Stockdale and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Stockdale Mustangs by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Miners were not able to get on the board.

Eli Palomino was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, El Diamante saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reed Bardonnex, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

El Diamante is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4-1. As for Stockdale, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Diamante will face off against Monache at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Diamante's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Monache's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stockdale, they will take on St. Joseph at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
