Basketball Game Preview: Barrow Whalers vs. West Valley Wolf Pack

The Barrow Whalers and the West Valley Wolf Pack will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in Barrow's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while West Valley has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Barrow is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Mountain City Christian Academy, who was ranked second at the time (Barrow was ranked 18th). Barrow took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain City Christian Academy on Thursday. The game marked the Whalers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, West Valley was beaten by Colony 77-7 on Thursday.

West Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Barrow, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Barrow against West Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 67-38 win. Will Barrow repeat their success, or does West Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
