Softball Recap: Modesto Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pitman on Thursday, Modesto came back down to earth. The Panthers fell 10-5 to the Pride on Thursday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pride earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Alyssa Ramirez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Williams and Kayla Contreras stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williams scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Contreras went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Modesto's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Pitman, they moved to 4-10 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Modesto will head out to challenge Gregori at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pitman, they will head out on the road to take on Downey at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.45 runs per game on average), something the Pride will no doubt try to take advantage of.
