Baseball Game Preview: Shaker Heights Red Raiders vs. Mentor Cardinals

For the second straight game, Shaker Heights will face off against Mentor. The Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shaker Heights comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Shaker Heights came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mentor by a score of 6-4 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since May 3, 2024.

For Mentor's part, Carmello Stropko looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stropko has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake McCartney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Cendrowski, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Mentor pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Shaker Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
