The Franklin Sabers will square off against the Oak Creek Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Franklin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Racine Case as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Sabers as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Meanwhile, Oak Creek entered their tilt with Racine Horlick on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Rebels 20-0. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Claire Mank made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Mank was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Oak Creek got a massive performance out of Aly Skrobis, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Rita Sippy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Oak Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Oak Creek's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Franklin took their victory against Oak Creek when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 12-4 score. Do the Sabers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
